The team launches an underwater drone, but has technical difficulty when the drone gets close to an underwater wall. Scientific evidence supports such an event at the end of the last ice age, 12,000 years ago when sea levels were 400 ft lower. There are many ancient texts of a great flood wiping out a previous civilization. Extraterrestrials could have built Nan Madol and the earlier structure beneath the water. There are believed to be basalt columns encrusted in coral, correlating with extreme age of 12,000 years ago. There are structures at an underwater city called Kanamwayso, beneath Nan Madol. The team take underwater drones to examine Nan Madol. The weight of the columns, the transportation distance, and the required quarrying tools seems to indicate extraterrestrial technology. An ariel survey of the island would also be needed to locate the material. The team visits the local basalt quarry, where massive modern machinery would be required to move the stone.

The oral history of Pohnpei says that the rocks were carried by giant birds that lived at the top of the mountain, which could have been misunderstood extraterrestrial technology. The rock appears to come from the top of the mountain.

Some are convinced the second source was Pwisehn Malek, a 400 foot high volcanic outcropping 25 miles northeast of Nan Madol. 40% of the stone at Nan Madol came from the north side of the island, while 60% is of unknown source. There are similar stories of levitation at megalithic sites around the world. This is similar to legends of giants floating the Moai statues into place on Easter Island. The oral history is that the stones were flown, or levitated into position in the 40-foot wall by two giant twin sorcerer brothers, Olosohpa and Olisihpa, who were foreigners not from the island. The largest stone block is measured and estimated to be 54 tons. The team visits Nan Dowas, the royal mortuary of Nan Madol's builders. The inhabitants of Pohnpei avoid the Nan Madol site because of beliefs of a curse, lights and spirits. In 1907, excavations were done on ceremonial structures, but the excavation worker died the next day, and the ship carrying the material sank. The construction of a doorway would have required advanced mathematics, which was not known in 1100 AD. Oral tradition and geological evidence indicate that the stones came from 20 miles away, which would require the use of giant shipping barges. Some believe aliens constructed the site.ДЄt the site, structural engineer Henry Burton is unable to explain how the site could be built without the use of cranes.

Efforts to demonstrate the transportation of the basalt columns have failed. Giorgio Tsoukalos and David Childress journey to Nan Madol to investigate with local historian Gus Kohler. This evidence contrasts with oral history that food and water had to be boated into the island, implying that the Saudeleurs appropriated, rather than constructed the site. In September, 2019, scientists conducted a LiDAR survey of the site, revealing an irrigation system. Lack of records leads to speculation that it was built much earlier. Speculation that the Saudeleur constructed Nan Madol is controversial, since dating the structures is impossible. The Saudeleur Dynasty ruled the island from 1100 to 1628 AD. The size and remoteness adds to the mystery of its construction. There is no other land within 600 miles of Nan Madol. It is an 11 square mile complex of 100 man-made islets, built with 250 million tons of volcanic Basalt rock. The structures are speculated to be as old as the pyramids.
